Spreading Joy & Dignity: Soul Foundation Hosted Annual Christmas Celebration at Butabika Hospital

Fitness Junction stood alongside Soul Foundation Uganda (founded by Gerry Opoka) during their inspiring annual End-of-Year Christmas Festival at Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital. The initiative was dedicated to breaking mental health stigma, restoring dignity, and bringing festive cheer, hope, and connection to patients and dedicated healthcare staff.
Event Highlights:
Festive Meal for 1,500+ Patients: Volunteers and partners prepared and served a warm, nutritious holiday meal to over 1,500 patients at the facility.
Appreciation for Hospital Staff: The event honored psychiatric doctors, nurses, and care staff for their extraordinary dedication and hard work in mental healthcare
Music, Dance & Joy: Patients undergoing the occupational therapy were gifted an oven to aid in their activities during the therapy sessions to foster community and a new life after diagnosis.
Challenging Mental Health Stigma: The celebration highlighted the importance of changing public perception surrounding mental illness and creating supportive spaces for healing.
